Travel Documents

(Animal Health Certificates & Export Health Certificates)

Everything you need to travel with your pet - we'll guide you through it clearly and stress-free.

What we offer

Animal Health Certificates (AHCs)

For non-commercial travel of dogs, cats and ferrets from the UK to the EU - including Northern Ireland and Ireland. An AHC confirms your pet is microchipped, Rabies vaccinated (at least 21 days before travel), and fit to travel. It's valid for one trip with a return within 6 months, and must be issued within 10 days of your departure date.

Export Health Certificates (EHCs)

For travel to countries outside the EU with specific additional requirements. Costs vary depending on destination-specific tests and documentation - we'll always provide a full estimate in advance.

Pre-travel eligibility check

Before your appointment, we'll send you a questionnaire to confirm your pet meets all entry requirements. This helps us spot any potential issues early - giving you time to resolve them before your travel date.

Why choose Creature Comforts?

Official Veterinarians in every clinic

All of our clinics have licensed Official Veterinarians (OVs) - government-authorised to issue AHCs and travel documentation for pets.

Experienced with complex cases

Our clinics are in areas where many pet owners travel internationally, so we're well-practised at navigating even the trickier situations calmly and efficiently.

Plenty of time to prepare

We know travel stress and admin stress don't mix well. We'll make sure everything is in order with time to spare before your trip.

Good to know

Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to ensure you have everything you need in place to allow our OVs to complete your paperwork.

The most important deadline to plan around is your Rabies vaccination - it must be given more than 21 days before you leave the UK.

Your AHC must be issued within 10 days of your departure date - so don't leave it too late to book your appointment.

You'll be asked to complete a travel questionnaire before your appointment so we can check eligibility and prepare the right paperwork.

If applying for an EHC you will need to go to the government website and appoint Creature Comforts as your official vet.
