Preparing for your AHC appointment

A few things to check off before your appointment, so we can get your pet travel-ready.

Make sure you’ve submitted the travel questionnaire

We need this information in order to prepare the AHC. If it's not completed ahead of time, we may be unable to issue the correct documentation.

The pet, and person travelling with the pet, must attend the appointment

If this isn't possible, or the person travelling with the pet is not the owner, please let us know as soon as possible - the owner will need to provide additional written documentation in advance.

What needs to be in the written documentation?

Owner's Details: Your full name, contact information, and signature.

Authorised Person/Company Details: The exact name of the individual or the travel agency transporting your pet.

Pet’s Information: Your pet's name, breed, and microchip number (which must match the AHC exactly).

Explicit Permission: A clear statement authorising the carrier to transport the pet and, if necessary, sign the non-commercial travel declaration at the vet

Share your pet's clinical history with us

If their rabies vaccination was not given by us, you'll need to email your pet's clinical history to your clinic ahead of the appointment, showing proof of valid rabies vaccination. A rabies certificate or pet passport is acceptable but we may require additional proof if any details are missing.

Check if your airline requires a 'Fit to Fly' certificate

As the owner you're responsible for checking your airline's requirements. If they use their own form, or need the certificate within a set timeframe before the flight, let us know the details ahead of your appointment and ensure the visit is within that timeframe. We can issue the extra certificate during your appointment, for an additional fee.
