What we offer

X-rays

We can look at bones, joints, and internal organs to help diagnose broken bones, arthritis, swallowed objects, and heart or lung conditions.

Ultrasound scans

These create real-time images of soft tissues - particularly useful for examining the heart and abdomen, including the liver, kidneys, bladder, and reproductive organs, as well as detecting fluid or masses.

Good to know

Depending on your pet's needs, imaging may take place during a consultation or be scheduled as a separate appointment. We’ll keep you informed every step of the way.

Sedation or a general anaesthetic is nearly always required for X-rays, and sometimes recommended for ultrasound for clearer images or if your pet’s anxious.

We know anaesthesia can feel daunting, but rest assured every patient gets a tailored anaesthetic plan, and the outcomes are excellent.

Your pet may need to fast before an ultrasound, but we’ll let you know in advance so you can prepare.

We can share images and reports with you or another vet if needed.

Pricing

Costs vary depending on the type of imaging and the complexity of the case - but you'll always know what to expect before we go ahead.

Clear estimates

X-rays are priced per area examined, and ultrasound varies based on the area scanned and time required. You’ll always get a full estimate upfront.

Sedation or anaesthetic

If needed, this is charged separately - and we'll always discuss this with you before proceeding.

FAQs

Not always. A heart scan can usually be performed while your pet’s conscious, or with a small amount of oral sedation to reduce stress. Abdominal ultrasound can often be performed awake, though sedation is sometimes recommended if your pet is anxious or in pain - it helps us get clearer, more accurate images. X-rays will nearly always require sedation or anaesthetic, to make sure your pet stays completely still and to comply with radiation safety regulations.

Yes. X-rays use very low levels of radiation, and ultrasound uses none at all. Both are safe when performed correctly.

X-rays usually take around 10 minutes per area. Ultrasound scans typically take 20–40 minutes depending on what's being examined.

In many cases, we'll discuss initial findings with you on the same day. Some more in-depth analysis may take a little longer to process, and your vet will arrange a follow-up to talk everything through.

No, you can book directly with us without a referral.
